Did you know that a young person age 16 or 17, who cannot live at home has only 2 options for financial support in Lanark County:
1. Ontario Works (OW); or
2. A Voluntary Youth Services Agreement (VYSA) with a local Child Welfare Agency.
To access either of these options, a young person needs to ‘prove’ they can’t live at home with their family. This starts with an agency phone call to their parent(s).
On OW, a single individual will receive approximately $700.00 per month ($400.00 for housing and $300.00 for personal allowance). On a VYSA, they will receive approximately $1000.00 per month.
Cornerstone Landing Youth Services will help these young people secure housing by providing a rent supplement up to $200.00 per month. We will also assist a young person with their basic needs such as food and clothes, by providing gift cards to a store of their choice.
